This Privacy Policy explains what data Start Lights (the “App”) processes. Race starts and settings work on the device without an account. The App also uses Google Firebase for anonymous analytics and crash reports. By using the App, you agree to this policy.
The following is stored locally and is never transmitted to us or to any third party by the App:
This data is removed when you use Android Settings → Apps → Start Lights → Storage → Clear data or when you uninstall the App.
If you pair a Bluetooth camera-shutter remote and enable Remote in Settings, the App only reacts to button presses as keyboard-style input (arm / reset). It does not read other Bluetooth device data, contacts, or files from the remote.
The App does not request camera, microphone, location, contacts, SMS, or storage access.
To understand how the App is used, we use Google Firebase Analytics, which may collect:
Analytics events do not contain race timing values, sound packs, skins, or other Settings fields. Collection is disabled in debug builds.
If the App crashes, we automatically collect a diagnostic report containing:
Crash data does not include Settings contents. Crash reporting is disabled in debug builds and intended for release installs.
If you choose to rate the App, a review dialog may be shown by Google Play. That flow is operated by Google. We do not receive the contents of your review through the App.
Local settings stay on your device so the App can remember preferences. For analytics and crash data processed by Google, we rely on legitimate interest in maintaining and improving the App (and consent where required). You can stop new collection by uninstalling the App.
We share data only with the providers below, only as needed to operate the App:
| Provider | Purpose | Data shared | Privacy policy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google (Firebase Analytics) | Anonymous usage analytics | App Instance ID, event names, device metadata | firebase.google.com/support/privacy |
| Google (Firebase Crashlytics) | Crash diagnostics | Crash UUID, stack traces, device metadata | firebase.google.com/support/privacy |
We do not sell or rent your data to advertisers, brokers, or any other third party.
Google Play (install, update, review) is also processed under Google’s Privacy Policy.
The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has used the App in a way that concerns you, contact us.
Local settings stay in the App’s private storage. Analytics and crash data are sent to Google over TLS. We do not operate a Start Lights cloud database. No system is perfectly secure; you use the App at your own risk.
Firebase may process data in data centers outside your country, including the United States and the European Union. Google describes Standard Contractual Clauses and other safeguards in Firebase Privacy.
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect the most recent revision. Material changes will be noted in the App’s store listing or release notes.
For privacy questions (not developer-operated deletion of Google-held analytics/crash data):
If you are in the EU and not satisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.
